A record-breaking season

GFDR runners experienced record breaking winter and spring seasons, with some impressive results from both the women and men’s teams.

At the Mid-Essex XC league, GFDR women were dominant and won by a margin both in the seniors and vets categories. Special mentions go to Claire Hayes and Hannah McIlvenna: Clare won the Rivenhall and Dunmow events, and Hannah came first in the Baddow race.

On the PBs front, Gillian Robinson broke 2 V55 records: 10k (48.27) and 10 miles (1.25.30).

On the men’s front, three long standing senior club records were broken. Simon Bond ran the Essex 20 in 1.58.55, and Manchester Marathon in 2.37.25, setting new standards for long distance running at the club. At Witham 10, James Bosher bettered Lee Pickering’s previous 10 miles record with a time of 55.40.

An inspiring set of results, and judging on some runners’ current form, other records will probably fall soon!
